Azealia Banks Says DaBaby Should’ve Been Cancelled For “Punching A Female Fan”

By Female Rap Room – August 4, 2021

In the midst of ongoing drama with rapper DaBaby, better known now as DaBroke, Azealia Banks decided to voice her opinion on his homophobic antics in a recent Instagram story.

Since DaBaby’s Rolling Loud Miami moment and the apologies that followed, DaBroke has been booted from numerous festivals. Azealia Banks points out how selective cancel culture really is, sharing that his current controversy shouldn’t be the reason he’s being “cancelled.” She highlights on an assault involving the rapper that took place back in March 2020.

On her Instagram story Azealia Banks writes, “Y’all should have BEEN canceled dababy when he was caught on camera punching a female fan in the face. I’m not believing any of this performative canceling ppl are doing now when everyone was so quick to forget that happened. Apology or not, keep him canceled.”

The incident being referred to happened in Tampa when DaBaby was going on stage and got blinded from a light on a fan’s phone as he walked by. In retaliation, the rapper hit the fan in the face so hard that she fell to the ground, leading to bystanders rushing to her aid as DaBaby continued on unfazed.

Are we surprised by his behavior? No, absolutely not. Do we hope that someone puts his phone on a high bookcase that he cant reach, yes, yes we do. As for Azealia, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Who knew it would take her and Chris Brown to be the voice of reason. Men don’t get cancelled for gendered violence, DaBaby should be held accountable.
