Saweetie Is Taking Over For The Year 2021

Only 10 days into the new year and Saweetie is making it known she’s not playing around in 2021!

Saweetie started the year off with an array of performances, new business ventures, covering magazines, and dropping a brand new cinematic female rap anthem titled “Best Friend” alongside Doja Cat. 

Back on the 1st to celebrate the new year with Icy Gang, Saweetie tapped into the New Year’s Eve Rockin Eve event with Ryan Seacrest to perform a medley of performances. In the same night, the rapper also performed on TikTok’s new year celebration live-stream and Bud Light’s Seltzer Session event! Booked and busy, IKDR!

Icy Gang better be prepared for Saweetie’s acting debut coming later this month! The icy leader made the official announcement earlier in January, confirming she would be a guest star in the Grown-ish sitcom as a bossy Indigo character. The rapper spoke to Billboard exclusively about her debut role and the expectations she set for herself beforehand. “I wanted to make sure I delivered. I feel like with roles, whether if it’s an episode or in a music video, you always have to commit to the emotion of what you’re trying to portray.Don’t forget to tap in with our icy girl Saweetie for the show’s official midseason premiere on January 21st at 8PM ET!

Although just released, Saweetie’s new single “Best Friend” with Doja Cat is growing to become a big hit! The music video has already reached over 13 million views since its release, trending at #5 on the platform in the United States currently. As far as Apple Music and iTunes, the song is beginning to take over each platform. The song currently sits at #49 on Apple Music and #16 on iTunes in the United States. “Best Friend” is currently the highest-charting female rap song and collaboration on iTunes. Numbers are extremely well right now, with an early prediction of a potential Top 30 debut for both Saweetie and Doja Cat on the Billboard Hot 100.
